If You're Feeling Angry, Fearful, or Overwhelmed, Know That You're Not Alone. Here's What We Can Do.

 

Dear all,

Like you, I have been struggling with my thoughts and feelings about the state of our nation and the world.

I've wondered whether some relationships will survive this era (and if I even want to try to salvage some of them).

It's okay not to be okay right now.

It's okay to be angry, anxious, fearful, and uncertain - this is part of what makes us human.Ā 

I am angry. I struggle with uncertainty. I wake up in the middle of the night worrying about the state of the world.

I am human.Ā 

We must acknowledge our emotions as our truths of the moment.

And even as you and I strive toĀ acknowledge our truths of the moment, it's also vital to find a balance between honoring where we are and how we feel, all while retaining a sense of the larger picture: what we feel, say and do affects us and others, now and going forward.

And so it's really vital to strive for emotional balance - both to reduce our own suffering and toĀ help us feel and do and be better. All of us.Ā
